French Exchange by Kylie Gable

$

My goodness, does Kylie Gable know how to spin a tale of female domination, forced feminization, and absolute humiliation. There's no doubt that French Exchange is a rather cruel story, but it's also a very erotic one, despite the fact that there's nothing sexual about it until the last few chapters.

Poor Luke is not a bad guy, but his family's new french exchange student begins working her devious ways on him from day one. By the time school even begins, he's been locked out of his own account, had all his school correspondence diverted, and is trapped in a semester of advanced French, dance, sewing, women's studies, and more. Not only that, but his once chance at fixing things is derailed by Helene giving him a rather radiant gel manicure/pedicure, accidentally washing all his socks pink, convincing him that boy cut panties are what all the boys wear back in France, and sticking him with a too-tight t-shirt with 'coquette' emblazoned across the front.

If it wasn't for the rather sharp cruelty of Helene, this would be a rather funny book. It's like one of those screwball comedies where everything that can go wrong does. Over time, Luke actually begins to get quite the reputation around school, assisted (of course) by subtle hints and deceptions shared by Helene. You feel bad for the poor guy, especially since he's so innocent, so naive, and helpless to make it stop. By the time Helene reveals her scheme and steps things up, making him her sissy slave, it's far too late to turn back.

Lovers of forced feminization and humiliation will wish they had a French Exchange student of their own, and even those who prefer to shy away from such cruelties will warm up to Luke's ultimate fate. Sexy, clever, and lovingly detailed, this is a fantastic read.

Well, if it's Friday, then that must been it's time for Freebie Fiction Friday . . . time to put the 'TG' in TGIF (and the 'FD' in Friday)!

Everybody Knows: 15 Transgender Love Stories by Giselle Renarde

Before I get into talking about the collection, I have to be honest and admit to my love for Giselle Renarde. She is one of the first writers I ever really got a chance to know through my reviewing efforts, and she is a woman who I greatly admire. All of Giselle’s transgender stories are born out of experience, appreciation, and affection for the transgender community. Instead of focussing on the fetishistic aspects of gender expression, she writes of friends, lovers, and partners whose gender identity is simply a part of who they are.

Perhaps the most delightful thing about Everybody Knows is the fact that most of the stories contained within are new to the collection. In fact, only 5 have been previously published, which makes this a fantastic collection for long-time fans and new readers alike. I won’t go into detail on all of the stories – readers, after all, deserve to share in the surprises – but there are a few I have to mention.

Hot Oil Treatment is, as Giselle freely admits, a personal story that is blatantly (and proudly) about her relationship with Sweet, her trans girlfriend of 7 years. In it, she recounts all the little things they have done together that allowed them to be sexual, without ever confronting the question of gender. It is sweet and tender . . . and incredibly erotic.

SM, or How I Met My Girlfriend in a Queer Theatre is a story with a message, but it is not about the message. Giselle uses it to say some interesting things about stereotypes and prejudices even within the LGBT community, but the focus is on the passionate discovery of love, behind the scenes of a drag show, between a lesbian and her transsexual girlfriend.

Max Alone in See-Through Panties stands out in that it is not a romance, but an erotic exploration of one man’s fondness for pink panties. Yes, there is a fetishistic aspect to his masturbation, but the final scene reveals a sweet (and familiar) truth about the peace of gender identity.

The Therapist and the Whore is Giselle at her most romantic and thought-provoking best, turning the tables on our expectations with a kind, lovable, transsexual whore who (as it turns out) serves as a remarkably effective bedroom therapist.

Bertie and the Vamp is a fun story that takes an interesting look at gender nonconformity. There is an aspect of cosplay to the story, with a husband and wife dressing up as their favorite competitors from the Gender Nonconforming UnderGround Arm Wrestling Association, but the highlight is the most erotic exploration of tucking that I have ever come across. Seriously.

Eclipse the Stars is a touching story that spends as much time exploring emotions as it does bodies, demonstrating a kind of understanding and compassion so rarely found in erotic fiction. Few authors can comment upon the transformation of a lover's sex while in the throes of passion, and still come across as tender and respectful, but that is precisely what Giselle does here.

Glitter in the Gutter is probably the darkest, saddest tale in the collection, with Dotschy coming home to find Connor purging all aspects of Charlotte from their lives. It provides a glimpse into the fear and shame that so many of us carry inside, but it also reminds us that love is blind, and “gender's between your ears, not between your legs.”

One Woman Show wraps things up with a story that starts out with the promise of risqué fetishistic exhibition, leads into some awkward revelations and confessions, and ends with the exploration of romantic sexual exhibition. The way Giselle develops a purely platonic friendship into something sexual, dressing Wellesley up physically, even as she undresses her emotionally, is just beautiful.

Through these 15 Transgender Love Stories, Giselle Renarde takes us from a world of fear where we worry that Everybody Knows, to one of acceptance and understanding where everybody knows . . . and nobody cares.

Even More Tricks of the Trade by Carollyn Faith Olson

Even More Tricks of the Trade is the latest volume of Carollyn Faith Olson’s wonderful non-fiction series. Having taken us from the beginner’s stage in the first book, to issues of comfort and presentation in the second, she takes a broader approach here, offering a little something for everyone, regardless of where they are in their gender journey.

What is interesting about this third volume is that it opens with some rather philosophical thoughts on what it means to be a cross dresser. While I am not sure I agree with everything written here, the questions are well worth asking.

In Part One, Kathy Hamilton contributes a lovely piece on Cross Dressing in Public for The First Time that should be required reading; Carollyn’s piece on the Things Every Cross Dresser Needs To Emulate a Womanstarts out simple, but is actually quite exhaustive; and Deedra Kay and Jamie Anne May offer some valuable observations on hair removal.

In Part Two, Lucille Sorella and Kathy Hamilton help highlight the struggles we have with hair (and how to make it work for us), while Emily Kate Warren, David Borrows, and Didi Gluck tackle the subject of lips and lipstick from a few different angles. Part Three is all about legs and shoes, with some great pieces on how to buy, wear, and walk like a girl, while Part Four gets into clothes with some my favorite pieces coming from Cynthia Nellis (Fashion Solutions For Your Body Type) and David Borrows (Common Corset Issues and How To Solve Them).

Of course, confidence, cosmetics, and clothes can only take you so far, so Part Five gets back to the issues of comfort and presentation from the second book, exploring how to best feel and look feminine. Not surprisingly, Lucille Sorella has some of the best pieces here, advising us how to look shorter, adjust out body movements, pitch our voices, and disguise the giveaway of an Adam’s apple. Part Six is kind of a collection of pieces that did not fit anywhere else, but Kathy Hamilton and Heidi Phox have some really useful things to say about gaffs and tucking, while Stephanie Shosta offers some advice on those social media posts we all regret.

While none of them are likely books you will sit and read cover-to-cover, all three Tricks of the Trade books are valuable resources to have available when you need some advice or have a question about something in particular.

The Office Sissy: The Complete Collection by Esther Harshom

The Office Sissy is an interesting change of pace, in that there is no 'before' portion to the humiliation. We never get to see Barbie as a boy, never get to relive her breaking, and never get to witness her descent into bimbo servitude. Instead, Esther Harshom walks us though a day in Barbie's new life, letting us get a feel for what the realization of a forced feminization fantasy is like. There are some hints and revelations along the way that allow the reader to at least imagine what came before, but for Barbie there is no before. It is just too hard for a bimbo slut to think about.

Actually, since Barbie is already The Office Sissy when the story starts, there is no forced feminization to be enjoyed. We do, however, get to experience first-hand what it is like to be a cosmetically augmented sissy slave, brain washed into bimbo servitude, who craves the humiliation of her boss. This is a story that is heavy on the humiliation, including one scene that was just a bit too much for me. Human ashtrays aside, however, I liked the power dynamic here and the mental conditioning of Barbie.

The story comes full circle in the final chapter, when we finally understand who Barbie is - or was - and how she really feels about her life. There are more than a few surprises, a little sex, and a lot of cum along the way, making for a perfect story arc across the three chapters.

Trick and Treat 3: The Student Witch by Lyka Bloom

Good news for those of you who haven’t read the first two Trick and Treatstories – neither have I, and that did not lessen my enjoyment here one bit!

As concepts go, it is a simple one, but that simplicity is what makes it so wide-open for subsequent annual instalments. Here we have a dilapidated old mansion, long rumored to be haunted, and thought to be home to the mysterious Dorothea Wyrmwood. Despite the Halloween curse that has seen disappearances over the past two years, it is still the kind place teenagers like to explore on a foolish dare.

This year, it is four friends who decide to go search for adventure, but only one of them will really find what she is looking for. Lyka Bloom does a lovely job of establishing her characters and foreshadowing their fates, ensuring that we are more than just casual observers to what happens inside. We know these characters, and we sympathise/empathise with them, and that makes our sinister titillation at their transformations even sweeter.

Trick and Treat 3: The Student Witch is a fun story, full of magic and mystery, with a fantastic attention to detail. The mansion undergoes as many transformations as the four intruders, and the way Bloom brings Dorothea’s fantasies to life is quite delightful.

Made Maidenly: Halloween French Maid Sissy by Claire Bear & Courtney Captisa

When it comes walking that fine line between suggestively risque and erotically explicit, there are few authors with a stronger grasp on the story than Claire Bear and Courtney Captisa. While they lean a bit more towards the erotic side with Made Maidenly: Halloween French Maid Sissy, making it one of their most daring tales to date, they still stop just shy of revealing all.

There is a very good reason that Halloween is the official crossdresser holiday, loved as much by those who crave that one day of social acceptance as it is by those who desire to take advantage of that craving. There is a little bit of both here, with Ross reluctantly allowing his neighbor to feminize him, and with Abby . . . well, taking a little more delight in his humiliation than might be expected. The scenes of feminization are well done (as always), especially with Ross being forced to publicly model some of the sluttier costumes available.

It is at Zara's party, however, where Claire & Courtney really get a chance to show their stuff. There's some nice exhibitionism here, even more humiliation, and a friendship that hides the eventual threat of exposure. The story does take a twist in the latter half, going to a darker place than to which fans might be accustomed, but I loved the way all the themes came together.

Depending on who you are, Made Maidenly can be a nightmare or a dream come true, but regardless it is a fun story that is perfect for the season.

Slave Life: Part I – Training by Alyssa Von Synn

One of the most effective narrative techniques in erotic fiction is to open up with the good stuff, to show us the end-result of a slave’s training, and then to take the reader back to the beginning of the journey. Rather than ruin the surprise, it provides a sort of promise that all of our wildest fantasies will be realized.

With Slave Life: Part I, Alyssa Von Synn puts that technique to good use. She moves the story backwards and forwards in time, contrasting the fall of an ordinary man who robs banks for a living, with the rise of a transsexual slave who services men for a living. Part of what makes it most effective is the way she uses a first-person narrator to drive home that contrast, with Nico referring to himself as one of the girls. In fact, for at least the first few chapters, we are left wondering just how much of a girl he has really become.

The opening chapter on blowjob training is a fantastic opening, and the story has some definite highlights in the first half, but it is the eighth chapter where the story gets really interesting. It is there that the District Attorney brings up The Project– an attempt to “re-educate non-violent felons and cut down on illegal sex trafficking.” We already know that Nico is a part of it, of course, but it is always exciting to learn how (and why) such a man becomes trapped in such a life. Once we fully understand the situation, the last few chapters take on a whole different feel.

With her first story, Alyssa Von Synn already proves herself to be an accomplished storyteller. She has a perfect sort of narrative flair, knows how to establish a character, and can really make a sex scene work. The final seven words are, perhaps, the most intriguing in the whole story, and I cannot wait to see what Part 2 brings.

Mistress Stephanie's Strays by Jim Lyon

As much as we may grieve the loss of a loved one, I think we all dream of being left with a life-changing inheritance. For one young woman, that inheritance only begins with a sprawling Hawaiian mansion – it is the stable of servants who come with it, desiring only to please, which is truly life-changing. Despite her prior experience with the scene, Stephanie does adjust a little too quickly to her “readymade polyamorous D/s family,” but that is all part of the fantasy.

As we soon discover, Mistress Stephanie's Strays are there solely for their Mistress’s pleasure, taking their only pleasure in the act of submission. Male, female, or trans, their bodies have been rendered hairless through laser treatment, their chastity is ensured by piercings, and they all sport rather elaborate butt plugs. I took an immediate liking to Molly and her faux foxtail butt plug; was excited by Pete’s fondness for being pegged; and found myself intrigued by gentle Louise’s love of pain; but it was neutered sissy Toni who excited me the most.

To Jim Lyon’s credit, he smartly (and quickly) deals with issues of boredom and contentment. When Mistress Stephanie begins to feel somewhat suffocated by the intimacy of the world he Aunt created, she sets out to open the estate and their lives to the wider BDSM world. First, though, she finds herself a submissive lover in Jewel who can also help domme her inherited subs, whom she makes her own through the offering of some very personal theme gifts.

If I were to have one small complaint about the book it is that it sometimes moves to fast, skimming through scenes that I would have liked to see explored deeper. It is a lovely read as it is, but I would love to see an expanded edition that pads out the erotica to something more novel-length. Like I said, though, small complaint . . . and wanting more from an author is never a bad thing!

Esther Harshom talks Femdom and Sissy Play for #Cocktoberfest

When it came to writing sissy erotica, I arrived kind of late in the game: I’d already published about fifty or so stories, most of them Femdom-themed, before it even occurred to me that I could turn my pen towards crossdressing. And why would it? After all, it wasn’t a fetish I got any particular enjoyment out of at the time. For a start, I’m a woman, and kind of a tomboy at that: where your average sissy might look at a pair of stockings and think of the sensuous feel of the silk against their legs, I view them as a ladder waiting to happen; when they see an overflowing makeup bag  and all the transformative possibilities therein, I can’t help but think of just how bad I am at being anything even approaching traditionally ‘girly’. Sissification stories, with their focus on hyper-femininity, didn’t seem like a particularly good fit for me.

Still, I was a professional, and it seemed like it might be an interesting genre to get into. If anyone could do it, so could I.

It took me three months to finish my first short story. To put it bluntly, this little experiment was a disaster. I could write Maledom books, Femdom books and vanilla with ease. I could write romance or hardcore, with main characters who were everything from werewolves to virgins. What I couldn’t do, it seemed, was write a sissy story that I’d want to read – and that fact bothered the hell out of me.

The problem, I realised eventually, was that I thought being a sissy in a BDSM relationship was all about the humiliation of being dressed in something ‘demeaning’ – that is, being made ‘less’ by being a woman. Every time I tried to get around that fact, I couldn’t do it. It seemed almost offensive to think that my gender was being used as a way of degrading people, just so they could get their rocks off. It took me a long time to realise that in good sissification and feminisation books – at least, the kind of books I was interested in – that wasn’t the case at all.

For me, sissification isn’t about the clothes you wear or how pretty your make up is. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a frilly dress or a latex catsuit, a slinky little evening number or the kind of thing that would make a five-dollar hooker blush. The truth is, the sissy stories I write aren’t about the sissy at all. What’s important, at least to me, is the relationship between the sissy and the person for whom they dress up.

To be a sissy, at least in the books I write, is to give someone complete control over you. It’s a way of saying I trust you enough to let you strip me down to nothing, and rebuild me as you see fit – even if that means taking me from a strong alpha-male sort right the way to being a desperate, slutty little girl. The willingness to submit to that kind of transformation – or perhaps the initial unwillingness, which gradually gets broken down by the realisation that this new life is what he was made for – is what really makes a main character pop for me.

And what about the Dominant – the man or woman who is given this opportunity to make something beautiful and sordid right from scratch? Well, he or she has a huge part to play too. It’s their job to guide the action and transform the clay of their new submissive into someone – something – worthy of their time and attention.

When you look at it that way, it’s easy to see that a lot of fictional BDSM relationships follow the same relationships – no matter how you dress it up.

Island of the Mermaids by Lyka Bloom

$

0
Island of the Mermaids is a simple story, drawing upon an age-old myth of sailors around the world, that is distinguished by its telling. Lyka Bloomtakes us back to the late 19th century, aboard the Tara Dane, soon to fall prey to a story of unnatural source and even more unnatural fury. Like the stories of that era, it is an epistolary tale, told in the form of journal entries begun by the ship’s captain, and finished by his first mate.

The dialogue and descriptions are very well done, bringing the feel of the times to life. It is easy to get lost on the deserted island with the crew, and even easier to forget the technological conveniences of a century later. These men (and woman) are trapped, lost, and alone . . . or they would be, were it not for the sweet siren songs coming from the seas around them.

Lyka Bloom plays the story to the chest for the most part, hinting at things and suggesting others, but saving the actual gender/species transformations for the very end. We know it is already happened to others, and we know it is coming for the captain, but that slow reveal makes his fate all the more powerful. There is even a touch of mythology to the tale, explaining the how and why of it all, which serves to top off a truly fantastic tale.

TG Mall Book #1: New Look by Haylee Sims & Courtney Captisa

By all accounts, I should love TG Mall Book #1: New Look.  I love a story that is essentially one long transformation sequence involving a protagonist that is struggling with the change.  I also adore transformations sparked by clothes or an external object.  It’s a shame, then, that there are elements of this story that make it very difficult for me to enjoy, though, strangely, not too difficult to recommend.

The story is familiar to fans of the gender transformation erotica community.  Our young male hero, Hunter, is just looking for a haircut from his usual stylist, Drew.  Unfortunately, the stylist is on vacation and Hunter finds himself in the hands of the tattooed Alyssa, who gives him a wash that leads to long hair and a new outlook on life.  Through the course of the story, Hunter is seduced into jewelry, makeup, dresses and heels, his body shifting to accommodate his new accessories.  By the time things wrap up, Hunter is now Hallie, and more than happy to be a newly-minted lovely girl.

It’s a great premise, and one I wished I had thought of, but it falls flat for me on a couple of levels.  First, the story, like all of those written by Haylee and Courtney, is in present tense.  I know, I know, I’m being a literary snob, but past tense feels far more natural to me as a reader and writer.  But, I understand this is a personal reaction and not one worthy of true criticism, and I would never steer anyone away from the story based on this alone.

But it’s not my only complaint.  The character of Hunter is not developed, merely serving as a portal for the reader.  Again, not something that is criminal, but I do prefer a bit more characterization, and Hunter’s is generally comprised of his feminine side asserting itself and outbursts by his masculine self, trying to stave off the changes occurring.  In short, I never felt like I knew Hunter, but for those who are more interested in the transformation, that might not make much difference.

Also, the writing lacks a poetry I like when I’m reading.  I like a writer who has a sense of the baroque, at times, and, while efficient, the writing of TG Mall Book #1 is rather bare bones, largely bereft of simile or metaphor, not interested in paying with the language to create a sense of time and place or description.

Now that I have all those complaints out of the way, if what you’re looking for is a straightforward story of a young man becoming a beautiful young woman, well this delivers in spades.  It’s not terribly long, but every scene is a component of the eventual transformation into Hallie.  Despite my complaints, the scenes of transformation are detailed and effective, and some of them are exceedingly hot, if not completely original.  Speaking of the hotness, if you’re looking for explicit se, there’s none here, but there is sexuality dripping from the transformation sequences.

I wish I could recommend this one with more enthusiasm, but it’s simply not my taste.  Yet, if you enjoy very specific scenes of male-to-female transformation, TG Mall Book #1: New Look is a solid entry into the canon and features some great moments.

The Shaming of Kyle Parts 4-6 by Alyssa Paige

In the first 3 chapters of The Shaming of Kyle, Alyssa Paige gave us a wet dream crossed with a nightmare. She invited us to walk the fine line between terror and titillation with Kyle, presenting us with a situation that was intellectually appalling, but physically appealing. Through the three chapters, Kyle found himself bound, feminized, pegged, humiliated, and emotionally emasculated . . . but Mistress Brooke was only beginning.

The second half of the story sees Kyle slipping even further into his role, to the point where he is begging to be taken by Mistress Brooke and her strap-on. A new wrinkle is introduced early, however, as Kyle finds himself being caged, with his neighbor actually holding one of the keys to his chastity. We do finally get to see Lana again, bringing him face-to-face with the woman who instigated his predicament, but it is his exposure to another co-worker that really kicks the story up a notch.

By the end of the sixth chapter, we see an interesting sort of transformation take place, with Kyle settling into his role and learning to appreciate the domination and the humiliation of one woman in particular. Of course, emotional attachment can be a dangerous thing, and with a secret looming over things, you have to wonder what fate has in store next, but Paige leaves us with a rather delicious cliff-hanger.

My Life as a Sissy Whore by Cassandra Dahl

$

At 137 pages, My Life as a Sissy Whore is just long enough to satisfy as a transgender themed erotic novella, but stops shy of being so long that it overstays its welcome. Cassandra Dahl tells a story that is almost fairy tale in some aspects, with a young man living a dream he never knew he had, but (like all fairy tales) there is some darkness before the happily-ever-after.

Claude is a young hitchhiker who accepts a ride with a charming older stranger, and then naively accepts an invitation to spend the night. When he steps out of the shower before bed, he finds his clothes gone (to be laundered, or so the note says), with only drawers and closets full of feminine things to get him through the night. it is cute the way he sorts through everything, trying to pick the least feminine pieces, but still cannot help but admire the way they may him along. Along with his earlier naiveté, there is a definite innocence to Claude that makes him so adorable as a protagonist.

As we discover, Mr. Blain wants Claude to stay on as his personal sissy whore. In exchange for his room and board, his opulent wardrobe, and his surgical enhancements, all he has to do is serve his new Master and please their houseguests. it is not an easy decision, and I love that he has some real concerns about his debts and friends back home, but the allure is too much to pass up. Before long - with the assistance of Isabelle - Claudine finds herself becoming a new addition to Mr. Blain's wall of erotic sissy pinups. there is some lovely description here of how she feels in becoming so feminine, and the lustful innocence with which she takes on her lovers, completely uninhibited, is just delightful.

The dark twist towards the end is actually something I expected to see much earlier on, and there is still an erotic element to its dark, borderline non-consensual whoring, but what it really serves to do is set up the final romantic twist. It is there, in the arms of Claudine's savior, that the story delivers on its fairy tale promise. There are some awkward moments and some unusual phrasings in the narrative, and I would have liked to see more of the action, but Cassandra Dahl is definitely an author to keep an eye on.

Harry and the Transsexuals by Marlene Sexton

Please Note: The following review is suitable for adults only.

Harry and the Transsexuals by Marlene Sexton

QUILTBAG Content: As the title suggests, we have two young transsexual women here, both at different stages of their transition, and with different goals in mind. Sarina is committed to becoming a "complete woman" someday, while Deidre likes "being a girl with a cock." Harry is the most interesting part of the triangle, being a straight man with plenty of doubts and reservations, but enough curiosity to play along.

Fetish Content: In different hands, the whole scenario could have been played as a fetish encounter, but Marlene Sexton doesn't fall into that trap. Hers is a story of two women and a man, and neither their gender nor the sexuality it fetishized.

Literary Quality: Actually, there's a nice bit of story here, and even some legitimate character development. I like the way Harry is established at the beginning, especially with all of his doubts about why two young women are so interested in him. I really didn't expect much from Sarina and Deidre at the start, but they have real personalities, and they're both women you could sit and have a conversation with. There's even a hint of actual romance to the story, with a nice tease at the end.

Spank Bank Rating: Yes, it's sexy and romantic, but there's also plenty of spank bank goodness here. First time exploration, a threesome, oral sex, anal sex, and lots of heavy petting. Everybody gets to give and take, so there's straight, lesbian, and bisexual appeal here.

Overall: I like it when a cover blurb pays off, and Harry and the Transsexuals really is "a hot, sexy and romantic tale of sex on the wild side." It's also sincere and respectful, which I think many readers will appreciate. A good story, well developed characters, and a bit of romance mixed in with the sex? You can't ask for much more from a short story.

The Jiggly Curse of Hooter Holler by Lyka Bloom

Easily the silliest of Lyka Bloom’s stories to date, The Jiggly Curse of Hooter Holler is just as backwoods crazy as you might expect from the title. There is not a lot of plot to this one, and no real character development, but she does set up the scenario very nicely.

Rather than deal with the competition to be found on the beach, Caleb and his friends decided to make their pre-college roadtrip to the town of Danvers, Alabama – also known as Hooter Hollow. It is a town consisting almost entirely of extraordinarily well-endowed, underdressed, attractive young women, all of whom are openly flirtatious. Even though it seems wet dream come to life, there is something oddly creepy about it all – a definite Stepford Wives kind of vibe. Only Caleb has the sense to figure out something is wrong, but everyone else is too excited by the prospect of sexual abandon to listen.

It is no spoiler to suggest that the boys may not find the happy endings they imagined, or that the town of Hooter Hollow will have a few more bimbos roaming the streets come dawn. The sex here is rather brief, just enough to plays the boys in danger, while the transformations are almost exclusively bosom oriented. The silly song they all sing, however, kind of brings it all together and really makes the story work.
